The replacement of two existing 220/110/22 kV-125 MVA transformers with two 220/110/22 kV-250 MVA transformers will help release about 500 MW of the current electricity capacity of Ninh Province.
In the afternoon of October 30, in Ba Thap village, Bac Phong commune, Thuan Bac district, Ninh Thuan province, the National Power Transmission Corporation collaborated with relevant units to organize the acceptance and energize to increase the capacity of the station 220 kV Thap Cham transformer from 250 MVA to 500 MVA.
The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation as an investor; the construction unit is Power Construction Joint Stock Company No. 1 and the construction work was started at the end of September 2019.
The project will replace two existing 220/110/22 kV-125 MVA transformers with two 220/110/22 kV-250 MVA transformers and complete a control-protection system suitable for the newly replaced transformer.
Besides, the project is additionally equipped with a fire protection system suitable for newly installed 220 kV-250 MVA transformers.
In addition, the project is also equipped with a power metering system as prescribed.
According to the leader of the National Power Transmission Corporation, the project is implemented to transmit the capacity of renewable energy power plants (wind power, solar power) in the northern area of Ninh Thuan province to the national grid. nation; ensure stable long-term and reliable electricity supply for the socio-economic development of Ninh Thuan province as well as other provinces and cities in the region, simultaneously increase the stability, safe and flexible operation in the grid.
After energizing, the National Power Transmission Corporation will assign Power Transmission Company 3 to directly operate.
Mr. Dao Van Rot, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade, said the replacement of two existing 220/110/22 kV-125 MVA transformers with two 220/110/22 kV-250 MVA transformers will help to release about 500 MW of the province's current electricity capacity.
Up to present time, Ninh Thuan has had 18 projects officially put into commercial operation with a total capacity of 1,180 MW; including 15 solar power projects with capacity of 1,063 MW and 3 wind power projects with capacity of 117 MW.
However, due to overload of transmission lines, 10 projects with capacity of 359 MW must implement deflation to 60% of capacity, especially wind power and solar power projects in the southern region of the province.
