After 11 months of continuous construction, the 500kV Chon Thanh substation in Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc province, of which EVN is investor and PCC1 is the main contractor, has been completed construction items and officially energized successfully at 6:55 am on September 2, 2020.

The project includes the following items: New construction of 500kV substation with 01 transformer 500kV /220kV-900MVA; Transfer 02 horizontal compensate capacitor 500kV - 157MVAr, 02 vertical compensate capacitor 500kV-2000A from 500kV Cau Bong substation to install at 500kV Chon Thanh substation, set up fiber optic communication to transmit SCADA signals to the Southern Power System Dispatch Center, the National Power System Dispatch Center, construction of guesthouse for operating workers. 
This is a key project that plays a role in supplying electricity, meeting the increasing electricity demand of Binh Phuoc province, Binh Duong province and the Southeast region. At the same time, the project also reduces power losses, reduces the load on some existing 220kV lines and transformers in the area.

The construction time coincided with the Covid 19 epidemic, so there were many difficulties in the site clearance and provision of materials and equipment; the transformer installation specialist could not be present at the site due to the social distance order. Under the direct direction of the Board of General Directors of Power Construction Joint Stock Company No. 1, the Project Steering Committee has implemented many solutions to remove difficulties, ensure construction quality, schedule and satisfy labor safety requirements.
