The Dau Tieng Solar Power Project is the largest clean energy project in Southeast Asia, constructed on submerged land near Dau Tieng Lake in Tay Ninh Province, Vietnam.
Overview of Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant Project
The Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant broke ground in June 2018 and was completed in March 2019. The project has a total installed capacity of 500 MW, with joint investment from Thailand's B Grimm Power Group and Vietnam's Xuan Cau Group.
The project consists of three plants: Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant 1, Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant 2, and Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant 3, with installed capacities of 150 MW, 200 MW, and 150 MW, respectively.
In this project, PC1 is responsible for legal services, technical design, procurement, construction, development, manufacturing, installation, testing, operation, and achieving COD for the power plants.
Project Financial Details
The project is invested approximately 12.76 trillion VND, with a land area of about 720 hectares allocated among the plants.
The solar farm generates approximately 4.3 million kWh per day, resulting in a daily revenue of around 400,000 USD (equivalent to 9.2 billion VND).
Design of Dau Tieng Solar Power Project
The Dau Tieng Solar Power Project is designed with integrated solar photovoltaic technology. Key components include PV panels, inverter systems, monitoring and control systems, high-voltage substation systems, and transmission systems. The project design emphasizes the spacing between equipment rows, angles, and configurations to optimize equipment installation and reduce costs
The plant boasts a scale of over 1.3 million PV modules, 170,000 foundation piles, 600 km of steel support structures, nearly 160 km of cables, and 2,000 km of wiring. Additionally, the construction of steel support structures for the solar panels requires 35,000 tons of galvanized steel. All systems in the plant are interconnected with the 220 kV Substation of Dau Tieng Tay Ninh Energy Joint Stock Company.
As a result, the Dau Tieng Solar Power Project is expected to supply approximately 14.9 TWh of solar energy over 25 years, equivalent to an annual production of 592,300 MWh. This capacity is sufficient to meet the entire electricity demand of Tay Ninh city.
